Issue of Nenkecan in Latin alphabet is new stage in the development of Crimean Tatar language, Turkish historian
ANKARA/ TURKEY, 22.03.11 (QHA) – Well-known Turkish historian with the Crimean Tatar roots, professor of the Bilkent University and Head of the NGO ‘Union of Friendship Ukraine-Turkey’ Dr. Hakan Kırımlı believes that the issue of the Nenkecan magazine in the Latin alphabet marks the beginning of new stage in the development of the Crimean Tatar language. He has written this in a letter addressed to the editor-in-chief of the Nenkecan magazine Zera Bekir.
According to Mr. Kırımlı, the publication of the magazine in the Latin alphabet disrupts a fixed opinion that the Crimean Tatars do not understand the Crimean Tatar language in the Latin alphabet.
The historian thinks that the Latin alphabet should be officially approved in Crimea and Ukraine, as it will allow open new opportunities for the development of the Crimean Tatar language and align it with other Turkish languages.
He also expressed gratitude to all the people who compiled and published the magazine, especially noting its editor-in-chief Zera Bekir.
“The magazine Nenkecan is the first edition perfectly written in pure Crimean Tatar language, in the Latin alphabet without any mistakes and brought to the readers in the modern version,” he stressed and added that the magazine is quite informative, interesting.
According to him, Crimean Tatar Diasporas in Turkey will look forward to new editions of the magazine.
As QHA reported, the presentation of the first issue of the women’s magazine Nenkecan has taken place in the Crimean Engineering and Pedagogical University (Aqmescit/ Simferopil) on March 3. The first number of the magazine covers the activity of the leader of the Crimean Tatar movement “Executive Committee of the Crimean Moslem women” Şefiqa Gaspıralı, as well as the issue of Alem-i Nisvan journal.
Head of the NGO Nenkecan, well-known Crimean Tatar journalist Zera Bekir is the editor-in-chief of the Nenkecan magazine.
